New England Science Center/Ecotarium, Worcester, MA. Work done while at Blackbird Architects in collaboration with Michael Singer Studio

A collaboration between Blackbird Architects and artist Michael Singer for the masterplanning, exhibit design, and architectural interventions to an existing landmark building by Edward Durrell Stone. The 45 acre site was organized around a series of interpretive pathways and discoveries, with naturalistic enclosures for native wildlife, interpretive signage, and places for hands-on experimentation. The introverted building was opened up with a 3-story glass wall looking out onto a landscaped court, and expanded with classrooms, media theater, and offices while respecting its design idiom of concrete domes and columns.
