Museum of Fantasy - Buchheim Collection. Work done while at Behnisch und Partner, Stuttgart.

The successful entry in an international invited competition to house the wide ranging collections of polymath journalist and most famously author of “Das Boot.” The building sought to bring the open minded curiosity of its patron to life by juxtaposing folk art with modern masters from the “Die Brucke” movement such as Emil Nolde and Ernst Ludwid Kirchner. Much of the collection was acquired and preserved after the pieces had been rejected and threatened with destruction as “degenerate” by the Nazis in the 1930’s.
